Fun Ways to Get Kids Excited About U.S. History🇺🇸

Was history your least favorite subject in school? Is it your child’s least favorite? If so, you’re not alone.

History has traditionally been considered one of those ‘boring’ subjects by many kids.

It can be a challenge to ignite an interest, especially with young children, because depending on how it’s presented the subject can feel dry and unrelatable. Take the American Revolution, for instance. The people, events, and dates are complex and kids may have little motivation to learn about something that happened more than 200 years ago. Why does it matter, they may ask? It has nothing to do with my life today. Right

Actually, it has everything to do with our lives today! Without proper understanding of the motives behind the Revolution, the courageous sacrifice of many, and the importance of the U.S. Constitution, kids grow up to become citizens indifferent to the blessings we share, and the opportunities, rights, and freedoms we have that can only thrive in a free nation. This puts our liberty, justice, and democracy at risk. Only when we understand the true value of something, will we honor it and consider it worth fighting for.

The good news is, history does not have to be boring! Here are some simple ideas and resources to help make learning U.S. history interesting and even fun!
